Softcover. Zustand: Neu. Ohne Schutzumschlag. 1. Auflage. Brand-new, unread book, shipped directly from the publisher. hild of the Dawn is a fast-paced almost cinematic tale of occult conspiracy and adventure with Aleister Crowley, his followers and The Stelé of Revealing very much at the centre of a wild and entertaining yarn. Ron s life-long interest in the Occult combined with his undisputed literary talent ensure a thrilling and immersive read. Readers who have already had the pleasure of an early preview, like our friend Mark Valentine and Rosemary Pardoe (of Ghosts and Scholars), agree that Ron s novel has all the hallmarks of deep learning, vivid prose and an enthralling plotting. There are very few modern, intelligent novels written on occult themes authored by a master of the genre. In Child of The Dawn we have a heady combination of a fast-paced adventure narrative, a tale of ritual magic and a chilling glimpse into the horrifying fantasy world evoked by the opium dreams of Poe and De Quincey. The inspiration for the novel is Aleister Crowley s account of receiving a trance message from a demonic spirit, which led him to write The Book of The Law . One of the instructions given to Crowley was that he should steal a certain magical plaque, the Stelé of Revealing, from Cairo Museum, and set it up in its proper place in an act which would promote the advent of A New Age . Rosemary Pardoe, an expert on M. R. James and editor of Ghost and Scholars, describes the novel as a real page-turner, setting a fast pace and that it is full of the details of occult practice. Her summary was Indiana Jones meets H.P. Lovecraft and that the novel would make a great action film script. Mark Valentine, author of many great stories and biographer of Arthur Machen, has also read the manuscript and says that it has all the hallmarks of deep learning, vivid prose and an enthralling plotting. Mark commented that he was sure the novel would be very well received, by a wide range of readers.…

Hardcover. Zustand: Neu. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Neu. 1. Auflage, Limitierte Ausgabe. Here are eleven superlative stories, three of which are previously unpublished . tales featuring dark and demonic occult encounters, pagan terrors and Jamesian chills. SPIRITS OF THE DEAD is possibly the last collection from the pen of the late and much missed Ron Weighell to feature some of the author's unpublished stories. "Older than Christmas" is a feast of pagan goings-on and, this story, as well as "The Tale Once Told" seem to have a distinct hint of the Jamesian. Ron had been working on and off on "On Murder Considered as One of the Black Arts" for many years and it is, maybe, one of his darker and most terrifyingly disturbing stories (no spoilers here but don't read just before bed). Seven of the eight previously published stories collected appeared in anthologies from Egaeus Press, Swan River Press, Undertow Publications, Zagava Press and Sarob Press. "The Mark of Andreas Germer" appeared as Quire xiii, a handmade chapbook from The Last Press. With an introduction by Mark Valentine. Bound in black cloth stamped in gold on spine and front panel - black & gold marbled endpapers. Dustjacket and interior art by Nick Maloret. This is exemplar 283 of 435 hand-numbered copies. Contains the following stories: The case of the fiery messengers The Shadow of the Wolf The Curse of Nectanebo The Sect of the Salamandar The black Heaven. "I had discovered the Sherlock Holmes books in my local library when a youngster, a major event in my imaginative life. In fact these stories played their part in taking me from children's to grown-up literature. I began to collect battered second-hand copies of the red-clothed volumes. Even then my first love was myth, legend and the supernatural, but the Holmes stories spoke to me from the first, with their brooding atmosphere, and of course their moody, introverted, drug-using and brilliant hero. Once I had fallen under their spell, my expectations of the genre were changed and enriched forever." RW. Chris Senior (illustrator). Signatur des Verfassers.…

Printed bookmarker laid in, as issued. Includes an Introduction by the author's widow, Fran Weighell, an Afterword by the author, and a Bibliography of the author's published works complied by Robert Morgan. A fine copy in a fine pictorial dust jacket, as issued. The last book by this great and renowned author, a short novel and a major tour-de-force. Partially autobiographical, it deals with what might be called the 'Silurian Hypothesis' - the idea that another intelligent species existed on earth before humans evolved. Evidence is slowly uncovered to prove this hypothesis, as we travel nostalgically through the Sixties and Seventies, spending a lot of time hanging out in used bookshops, listening to psychedelic music and investigating the occult. Along the way we meet characters who are (and are not) Austin Osman Spare (Alphonsus Gaunt), Aleister Crowley (Nicholas Hallam), Dennis Wheatley (Hector Campion) and many others. Highly recommended on many levels.…
