Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Ropeco Magazine was an early 20th-century illustrated periodical produced by Rogers Peet & Company, blending adventure stories, sports, and moral tales with promotional content aimed at young boys. Its lively illustrations, engaging narratives, and striking cover art fostered a sense of identity and excitement among readers while reinforcing brand loyalty to the retailer. Today the periodical is collectible for its rarity, appealing illustrations, vibrant and imaginative cover designs, and its insight into early American youth culture and the history of branded publications. Many issues include artwork by Anthony Fiala, H. T. Denison, E. B. Gilbert, C. J. McCarthy, Harry S. Bressler, Frank Rigney, and others; early cover art was supplied by H. J. Turner. Literary contributors vary throughout the run. This assemblage comprises 43 issues, mixed, and includes the first and scarce inaugural number: Issue 1, No. 1 (October 13, 1913). That issue shows covers nearly detached, chipped and worn, with mold to the fore-edge of the front cover and slight damage affecting a few words of text and the facing illustration-likely from a drop of glue. The collection includes the following issues: Feb 1916 (V.3, No.5); Mar 1916 (V.3, No.6); Apr 1916 (V.3, No.7); Jan 1917 (V.4, No.4); May 1917 (V.4, No.8); Jun 1917 (V.4, No.9); Jul 1917 (V.4, No.10); Aug 1917 (V.4, No.11); Nov 1917 (V.5, No.2); Jan 1918 (V.5, No.4); Jul 1918 (V.5, No.10); Mar 1919 (V.6, No.6); Jun 1919 (V.6, No.9); Jul 1919 (V.6, No.10); Aug 1919 (V.6, No.11); Sep 1919 (V.6, No.12); Jan 1920 (V.7, No.4); Mar 1920 (V.7, No.6); Jul 1920 (V.7, No.10); Nov 1920 (V.8, No.2); Mar 1921 (V.8, No.6); Jun 1921 (V.8, No.9); Sep 1921 (V.8, No.12); Jan 1922 (V.9, No.4); Aug 1923 (V.10, No.10); Jul 1924 (V.11, No.10); Sep 1924 (V.11, No.12); Jan 1925 (V.12, No.4); Feb 1925 (V.12, No.5); Mar 1925 (V.12, No.6); Apr 1925 (V.12, No.7); May 1925 (V.12, No.8); Dec 1925 (V.13, No.3); Oct 1926 (V.14, No.1); Dec 1926 (V.14, No.3); Apr 1927 (V.14, No.7); Jul 1927 (V.14, No.10); Oct 1927 (V.15, No.1); Apr 1928 (V.15, No.7); Aug 1928 (V.15, No.11); Dec 1928 (V.16, No.3); Oct 1930 (V.19, No.1). All covers attached except Dec. 1925. March 1925, April 1927, and one other show some mouse nibbling to the top edge of the covers; apart from light occasional soiling and modest edge-wear, most issues are in very good or better condition. Included with the lot is a Ropeco medallion, bearing the crest of the Order of Ropeco at the head, and stamped 3rd Degree at the foot-an uncommon surviving piece of ephemera. A substantial and scarce grouping, enhanced by the presence of both the inaugural issue and the medallion.
