Las aplicaciones geoquímicas pueden ser útiles en estudios de otros sistemas volcano-hidrotermales. Después de las erupciones de marzo-abril de 1982, el lago cratérico de Chichón se convirtió en un steam heated pool de gran dimensión dominado por SO4 y con un pH alrededor de 2. El lago ya hubiera desaparecido en sus 24 años de existencia (1982-2006), si no existiera la actividad tipo géiser de los Soap Pools , manantiales hirviendo en el cráter que alimentan el lago con agua y sales. El fenómeno más peculiar en el volcán El Chichón es la ausencia de un domo en el cráter. En este estudio, se presenta una serie completa de composiciones químicas e isotópicas de los gases y aguas termales del volcán Tacaná. Los gases burbujeantes, al igual que las exhalaciones fumarólicas (3,600 msnm), están dominados por CO2. La isotopía de He-C concuerda con el régimen tectónico de ambos volcanes. 336 pp. Spanisch.

Después de las erupciones de marzo-abril de 1982, el lago cratérico de Chichón se convirtió en un steam heated pool de gran dimensión dominado por SO4 y con un pH alrededor de 2. El lago ya hubiera desaparecido en sus 24 años de existencia (1982-2006), si no existiera la actividad tipo géiser de los Soap Pools , manantiales hirviendo en el cráter que alimentan el lago con agua y sales. El fenómeno más peculiar en el volcán El Chichón es la ausencia de un domo en el cráter. En este estudio, se presenta una serie completa de composiciones químicas e isotópicas de los gases y aguas termales del volcán Tacaná. Los gases burbujeantes, al igual que las exhalaciones fumarólicas (3,600 msnm), están dominados por CO2. La isotopía de He-C concuerda con el régimen tectónico de ambos volcanes.
