Rara e importante edição de Jean de la Haye dos escritos de São Francisco de Assis e Santo António de Pádua, dois dos mais venerados santos da Igreja Católica e figuras centrais da ordem franciscana. Segunda edição, publicada por Johann Gastl em 1739 na cidade de Stadtamhof, hoje parte da cidade de Ratisbona, na Alemanha. A primeira edição foi publicada por Pierre Rigaud, em 1653, na cidade de Lyon. Existe outra edição publicada também em 1739, por Martin Veith, em Augsburgo, com exatamente o mesmo conteúdo que a presente edição. As introduções ao leitor ao início de cada parte da obra, escritas por Jean de la Haye, explicam o propósito e a importância desta edição das obras de São Francisco e Santo António. Jean de la Haye destaca que o seu objetivo ao publicar esta nova edição é o de preservar e difundir o legado espiritual e literário da ordem franciscana para as gerações futuras, enfatizando a necessidade de que as Bibliotecas Franciscana e Antoniana não permanecessem incompletas. Louva ainda o trabalho de Luca Wadding, que foi também reponsável por um compendio anotado das obras de São Francisco de Assis em 1623, Antuérpia, enfatizando que não pretende, com esta edição, diminuir ou desmerecer o seu grande esforço. Incui ainda várias explicações e anotações do próprio de Haye que afirma tê-las elaborado não para a crítica, mas tendo em vista o bem comum e a utilidade pública. Haye apresenta textos inéditos em ambas as partes da obra, frutos do seu trabalho de investigação. Relativamente a São Francisco de Assis, inclui alguns textos que tinham sido recentemente descobertos e pela primeira vez atribuidos ao mesmo, sendo que parte dos quais tinham sido anteriormente atribuídos erroneamente a outros autores. Em Santo António, Haye apresenta pela primeira vez a «Exposição Mística das Escrituras Sagradas» como uma provável colectânea de textos antonianos muito útil, que apresenta um comentário erudito sobre as Escrituras Sagradas, de forma singular e com grande engenho. Jean de la Haye, como Visitador Geral e Apostólico na Religiosa Província de França, em Paris, deparou-se com este códice na biblioteca de um convento localizado no Ducado de Lorena que forneceu uma cópia do mesmo com a condição de que Haye o tornasse público. A obra divide-se em duas partes. A primeira, consagrada a São Francisco, inclui três volumes dos «Opusculorum Beati Francisci», seguidos de um índice de obras, uma biografia escrita por São Boaventura, que também traz as bulas de canonização, e uma meditação sobre a vida de Francisco em salmos e antifonas por Nicolau de Lima. Na segunda parte, dedicada a Santo António de Pádua, a obra começa com 30 páginas de elogios e uma biografia do santo, que inclui a bula da canonização por Gregório XIII, seguindo-se os seus sermões e dois livros organizados, restaurados e comentados por Haye: a «Exposição Mística das Escrituras Sagradas»; e a «Concordância Moral das Escrituras Sagradas», extraídas dos Manuscritos da Biblioteca dos Frades Menores da Basílica de Santa Maria em Aracoeli, no cume do Monte Capitolino - uma coleção organizada com grande engenho e ordem, que já tinha sido tratada por Luca Wadding.
