En Afrique du Nord, une large bande de déformation peut être suivie depuis le Maroc, jusqu'au en Algérie, à travers les régions de Reggane et Béchar, les Monts de l'Ougarta, les régions de Bled El Mass, du Gourara-Timimoun et de l'Ahnet jusqu'au bassin d'Illizi et les affleurements des Tassili N'Ajjer dans la partie orientale. L'étude de la déformation hercynienne dans la plate forme saharienne (PFS) en Algérie, nous a permis de mettre en évidence l'idée d'une déformation progressive plutôt que celle d'un polyphasage tectonique. Ainsi, la direction de raccourcissement observée aurait subi une rotation horaire, passant d'une direction NE-SW au Viséen à une direction WNW-ESE à NW-SE au post-Namurien anté-Permien et se terminant par une phase extensive. La tectogenèse hercynienne représente un des moteurs principaux de la genèse des pièges à hydrocarbures. 188 pp. Französisch.
