Anbieter: Caroliniana, Aiken, SC, USA
Octavo, comb bound yellow wrappers with green titles and illustration of dragon, vi, [2], 146 pp. Illustrations by Joel Goldsholl. A Chinese cookbook by Betty Schultz Goldberg, a Jewish woman, Chinese cooking enthusiast, and teacher who went on to author the 1989 book "Chinese Kosher Cooking." The preface describes how Goldberg honed her Chinese cooking skills by preparing elaborate dinners for friends, and hosting Chinese banquets to raise funds for Temple Shearith Israel in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The introduction, by Ridgefield Rabbi Arnold M. Belzer, describes American Jewry's longtime infatuation with Chinese cuisine, as well as the history of Jews in China. Part one is a guide to preparing a Chinese banquet, part two discusses ingredients, techniques, and equipment, and part three contains recipes, including Rabbi Belzer's Beef Lo Mein and Rabbi Belzer's Cold Hot Noodles. There is also a page of suggesting fortune cookie sayings, such as "Confucius Says 'Where's the Bagels and Lox?'" Stony Brook University only in OCLC. A very good copy with some creasing, hint of toning and staining to wrappers.
