First Edition. 16 pp + colour frontis., printed on fine laid paper with deckle edes. textwise immaculate but printed colour case a bit dusty and fingermarked, and seems to have 2 short red pencil notes now illegible on the front board. A signed note pasted into front says presented by author to some unnamed library, but no library markings detectable. This MS [Harl.9788] now in the British Museum was written by a Reading Benedictine monk about 1240 described by Naumann as 'the most remarkable ancient musical composition in existence'. English & Latin words. An attractive essay on an important middle ages music MS. Size: Crown.
