Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 3rd Edition. The definitive Third Edition, 1839. Complete octavo volume. A highly important, scarce, and historically fascinating medical monograph tracking the therapeutic and Balneological application of mineral spa treatments in Derbyshire. Sir Charles Scudamore, a premier English authority on rheumatism and gout, combines rigorous chemical water breakdowns with detailed clinical case studies mapping the successful recovery of patients suffering from chronic neuralgic, arthritic, and muscular conditions under the influence of the Buxton springs. Internally remarkably clean, bright, and white throughout; the high-quality period paper stock is free of the heavy, dark foxing, damp staining, or thumb-marking that typically destroys medical reference works from this era. Entirely free of any modern owner names, library stamps, or annotations. A preservation-grade, collector-state example of medical history.78 pages (inclusive of front matter and final analytical sheets). Pages run sequentially from Page 1 to Page 78. The text layout divides cleanly across scientific analysis and individual patient observations, ending on the final page with a full stop and the definitive imprint of the London printer.…
