NOT price-clipped, and NOT an ex-library. Translated by Cedric Belfrage. 250 pages. From the front flap: "This is a compelling and dramatic account of a struggle in Nicaraguan history which is well-known throughout Latin America, but which has never received the attention in the U.S. which it so richly merits: in 1927 a guerrilla war was unleashed in the jungles and mountains of Nicaragua by a ragged and hungry group of compatriots who grew in number from 26 to 3,000 - against 6,000 well-fed, well-trained, and well-equipped U.S. Marines. For seven years the invaders were held at bay.The leader of this remarkable guerilla band was Augusto Cesar Sandino.{who} never lost sight of his prime objective: to rid Nicaragua of the U.S. army of occupation and the business interests it was protecting." Tapa Blanda. Zustand: Muy Bien. 290 gr. Libro.

Paperback. 362p., illustrated with political cartoons and one fuzzily-reproduced photo, softbound, 8x5 inch decorated wraps, text is entirely in Spanish. Covers were cut to stylishly overlap textblock and the margins have gotten very worn, creased, and slightly torn. Text paper is acidic and quite toned, first blank is rubberstamped with address of a Santo Domingo bookseller. As is, but a good reading copy. Selser's specialty is history and analysis of US espionage in Latin America, and wars of the flea. See especially "El Pentagono y las technicas sociologicas," 1966, and "La CIA en Bolivia," 1970. On line is a 1961 Selser title called "Guatamalazo," presumably in the same vein. "Pequeno Ejercito Loco," the crazy little war, is one of several Selser wrote on Sandino.
