Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Jack Foley was born in August 1940 in Neptune, New Jersey. As an excellent student, and with the aid of his local library, Foley read widely and soon exploring the works of various poets. At fifteen he realized that, whatever else he was, he was now and forever a poet. Foley's parents could not afford to send him to college, but he surprised them by winning scholarship money that enabled him to attend first Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and then The University of California at Berkeley.Foley worked hard as a graduate student at Berkeley and tried to keep his poetry going amid all the furor of "the sixties." Eventually, he dropped out of school. He wanted to become a poet. Foley also developed various techniques for writing and presenting poetry. He persuaded his wife Adelle to help him perform what he called "choruses"--a word that conjured up both the ancient Greeks and the world of musical comedy.Foley created a "tap dance" poem which featured not only his words but a bit of the art his father taught him. Over the years, Foley published a multitude of books with various publishers-books of poetry, but books of essays as well.Foley continues to write, perform, and think about poetry. 1955 to 2025 is a long journey in which Jack Foley had chosen poetry and writing for his "breathing". His presence in print and online media is commendable. He writes poetry, prose, essays, stories, dramas and had his signature in all genres of literature. Performance of Choruses and tap dance poems are innovative in the literature world.During 1992-1995, he was awarded Poetry Grant from Oakland Arts Council .In 2010, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Berkeley Poetry Festival, and June 5, 2010 was designated Jack Foley Day in Berkeley, California. In 2018, he became the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2021, he became the first K M Anthru International Literature Award for his comprehensive contribution to literature from K M Anthru Foundation, India. After Adelle's death in 2016, Foley has found a new love and performance partner in Sangye Land, daughter of poet Julie Rogers and stepdaughter of poet David Meltzer. Since 1988, he has hosted a show of interviews and poetry presentations on Berkeley radio station, KPFA.In 2019, Monongahela Books released Foley's "Unmanageable Masterpiece", edited by Dana Gioia and Peter Whitfield. The book discusses and celebrates Foley's Visions & Affiliations: Real Magazine Productions, the unique publishers from Kerala, India, presented his final book "Telling it Slant", to the world in 2024. We were planning to have his another book published in 2025 when, Jack Foley left this world, early thhis November. The readers will certainly find Jack Foley as the Synonym to Creativity and also as the Unquestioning master at Poetry.Through this book " Lantern Walking Ahead", his friends and fellow poets pay tribute to Late Jack Foley.Shajil Anthru, Chairman of K M Anthru Foundation and Chief Editor of Litterateur Redefining World edits this emotional and meaningful tribute to Late Jack Foley. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - January Edition of Litterateur Redefining World enriches the global literature world through its creativity and experimental writing sharing and calling attention to cultivate a universal, compassionate approach to addressing these global crises, drawing on the creative and moral insights of those who dedicate their lives to redefining humanity's shared future. Shajil Anthru, Chief Editor of this magazine who is also a multilingual writer of stories, poetry and essays in his editorial reminds us that ' Authoritarianism has gained ground in various regions, regardless of democratic traditions, and even established democracies have shown authoritarian tendencies in subtle forms. Yet, we must not avert our gaze from the quiet yet persistent efforts of writers, artists, and thinkers who challenge injustice and foster empathy. Through their stories, poems, paintings, and performances, they illuminate human suffering, bridge divides, and inspire collective action against oppression and discrimination. Writers and artists play an indispensable role in preserving truth, amplifying silenced voices, and envisioning a more equitable world-often at great personal risk.'Mini Shajil is an Indian artist, poet and short story writer based in Kerala, known for her evocative abstract and surreal paintings that blend cosmic, ethereal, and geometric elements. Her works often explore themes of introspection, energy, connectivity, and the boundless imagination, using vibrant gradients, flowing forms, and symbolic motifs to evoke a sense of wonder and redefinition. Her creative pieces highlight her role in bridging visual art with experimental literature that resonate with emotional depth and innovative composition. Mini incorporates sustainable practices such as up-cycling into her process. The abstract painting 'Celestial Waves' by Mini Shajil which evokes a cosmic or oceanic night sky is the painting of this edition. The themes of contemplation, dreams, celestial wonder, or the vastness of the universe/ocean is presented by the artist. Its dreamy, flowing cosmic theme beautifully captures imagination, introspection, and the 'redefining' of worlds through literature. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - KM Anthru Foundation proudly presents the December 2025 edition of LITTERATEUR Redefining World. Founded in memory of the visionary writer K.M. Anthru, whose passion for storytelling excelled languages and geographies, LITTERATEUR has evolved into a nonprofit initiative under the KM Anthru Foundation in Kerala, India. Edited by Shajil Anthru, a pioneering figure in literary philosophy with his creation of Zeroism and Fishbone Poetry, this edition exemplifies our mission to reduce divides, amplify marginalized voices, and redefine the world through the power of words and images.Focusing on Italy, where a profound appreciation for arts and literature is plaited into the national identity, this edition holds particular tone. Italy, the cradle of the Renaissance, home to masters like Dante Alighieri, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci, has long been a global influencer in culture and creativity. Yet, in today's interconnected world, Italian readers, artists, and scholars seek avenues to engage with international perspectives that enrich their own heritage.LITTERATEUR serves as that vital link, introducing Italian audiences to a symphony of global voices while subtly echoing Italy's own artistic legacy. The cover itself is a nod to this connection: featuring Francesco Hayez's iconic 1859 painting Il Bacio (The Kiss), a masterpiece of Italian Romanticism symbolizing passion, secrecy, and the spirit of the Risorgimento-the unification of Italy. This edition's bold, unconventional pieces align with Italy's love for intellectual discourse, making it an essential addition to any personal library. It's not just a book; but which encourages Italians to see their own cultural richness reflected and refracted through others. With its visual-text collaborations, where classic paintings are reimagined alongside modern writings, it sparks interdisciplinary conversations.LITTERATEUR enhances introduces underrepresented literatures and arts, aligning with Italy's UNESCO-recognized commitment to cultural preservation. The journal's focus on resistance and hope resonates with Italy's history of antifascist literature and postwar reconstruction. Its high-quality print and striking visuals make it a durable, reference-worthy addition, ensuring long-term value for patrons. The key features of the December 2025 edition, we see our global commitment in action. This issue spans poetry, short fiction, essays, translations, and visual-art pairings, all curated to highlight cultural nuances. 6Shajil Anthru with 'The Boot That Kicked the World', IOLANDA LEOTTA, Italy with 'My home country', Yordanka Getsova, Veliko Tarnovo with 'Fountains of Villa d'Este', Radka Marinova Lyulyakova, Plovdiv, Bulgaria with 'Italy', Emilija Todorova, Australia with 'DIANA\*', Paromita Mukherjee, India with 'HYMNS OF FLAME AND STONE', Barbara Anna Gaiardoni, Verona, Italy with 'Tanka', Lidia Chiarelli, Torino, Italy with 'Lights in the Rock Garden', Immagine & Poesia: Between Words and Images, Shirley Smothers, United States with 'Leaning Tower of Pisa', Michele Digrandi, Italy with ''The Third Dream of Saint Joseph', Dr. Arch.
