The cover also carries an illustration, in black, taken from the story. Similarly, the spine displays gilt lettering and part of the black illustration. The cover is a little stained, but otherwise there are few signs of wear. The binding of the book is secure, with no loose pages. The pages of the book, although a little yellowed with age, are clean. None are folded or.
