In the last stan…za there is a reference to hemp which may well be alluding to the first battle of Lexington, also known as "Battle of the Hemp Bales". A few short chips or tears at margins, lower forecorner folded. In good condition. Song in four stanzas; first line: "Camptown ladies, sing dis song". First published in 1850, under the title, "G…wine to run all night" and "Camptown Races", the lyrics are in the 19th century Afro-American dialect. It's the story of a black man who goes to the racetracks at Camptown, Pennsylvania, to bet on a horse. He bets on the bob-tail horse and wins a "pocket full of tin". Thomas M.
