Soft cover. Zustand: Collectible-Very Good. Original publisher's multicolored wrapper with staple binding. Front cover shows an illustration by Reginald Bolles of a man drawing a fish in a room with different kinds of fishing, hunting, and sporting goods. 7 3/4" x 10 1/2." Fifty-two pages, complete. Many black and white illustrations, complete. One plate is in color and advertises different types of fly-fishing flies. Pages and covers are very clean and intact overall, but front cover has some wrinkling and the lower-left corner is missing (only affects a small portion of the cover illustration). This catalog lists descriptions, specifications, and prices for fishing gear, guns and rifles, sports apparel, and all sorts of sporting goods that can be purchased at Max Cook. Most of the advertised items have accompanying illustrations. Dave and Max Cook opened the first sporting goods store in Colorado in 1924. In 1932, Dave bought out his brother's share and opened the Dave Cook Sporting Good Company in 1936 at 1601 Larimer Street in Denver. In 1988, Dave's company was acquired by Gart Brothers' Sporting Good Company, which was actually owned by Thrift Corporation (Gart had been bought out by Thrift in 1986 but still operated under the Gart name). The Cook family remained employed at the company until their resignation in 1989. By the 1990s, all of the Cook stores that had been bought out changed their name to reflect the Gart brand. Gart merged with Sports Authority in 2003, but in 2016, Sports Authority filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores.

Rawlings Sporting Goods is an American sports equipment manufacturing company based in Town and Country, Missouri. Founded in 1887, Rawlings currently specializes in baseball clothing and equipment, producing gloves, bats, balls, protective gear, batting helmets, uniforms, bags. Footwear includes sneakers, and sandals. The company also sells other accessories such as belts, wallets, and sunglasses. Rawlings began providing the hometown St. Louis Cardinals with gloves in 1906. In 1920, Bill Doak, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, suggested that a web be placed between the first finger and the thumb in order to create a pocket. This design soon became the standard for baseball gloves. Doak patented his design and sold it to Rawlings. His design became the precursor to modern gloves, and enabled Rawlings to become the preferred glove of professional players. For over 40 years Rawlings has been the exclusive supplier of baseballs to the Major Leagues. Every Rawlings ROMLB baseball is carefully crafted with the finest materials available and assembled, weighed, measured, tested and inspected for the highest possible level of quality and consistency. The Horween Leather Company has provided Rawlings with leather since 1929. In 2003, half of professional baseball players were using baseball gloves made from Horween leather. As of 2013, Rawlings was the most chosen glove of current MLB players. Presumed first issuance thus of a quantity of multiple originals.
