Plates, on better quality paper, are brighter with some unobtrusive foxing. Former owner's signature to front cover. Covers worn to edges front and back, with closed tears and some light marking. Best regarded as a reading copy. 8vo. vii, 352pp.

Andrée og to andre rejste i luftballon mod Nordpolen fra Svalbard. Ikke mere end 500 kilometer fra afrejsestedet tabte ballonen opdrift, og man forsøgte at vende hjem med slæder og båd. Det mislykkedes, og i lang tid var der mystik om deres skæbne indtil en norsk hvalfanger fandt deres lig og dagbøger over tredive år senere.
