Stapled Pictorial Wraps. Zustand: Near Fine. First Thus. This 12 page program has been boldly signed by the playwright Christopher Fry and Birmingham Repertory Theatre founder and then Governing Director Sir Barry Jackson presumably in the year of the plays' production, 1951. Cover has color image on heavier weight paper than the guts, which are black and white. 4 pages of advertisements and 5 pages devoted to the play and theatre's history and credits. A very uncommon item especially signed by such notables from the world of British Drama. Cover has a very slight smudge, but is otherwise in very sharp condition! Signed by Playwright and Theat.

First edition of this beautifully illustrated Souvenir De Luxe program for the play which opened in 1927. Frank Reilly would also produce A Play Without a Name in 1929. This production featured John Cumberland as Pickwick, Charles McNaughton as Sam Weller, Hugh Miller as Alfred Jingle, and others.

Adverts begin, and conclude, the pamphlet, with the production program as the center bifolium. 12mo. 7-1/8" x 4-7/8" Bolton notes this adaptation first performed in early December 1903, a prior owner on this program has noted in pencil on the front cover, "Tuesday, Jan. 12. 1904". Of note, Bolton questions Dion Boucicault as the plarywright, however, on page 6 of the program is found the following: "Mr. Bourchier is indebted to Mr. J. L. Toole for kindly placing the late Dion Boucicault's dramatic version of this story at his disposal." Modest age-toning & soiling to covers, with rusted staples. A VG copy. White paper covers printed in black, stapled. Now housed in a clear archival mylar sleeve Early, if not 1st, printing (Bolton CH119), ca 1904.

Hardcover. 4to. 29cm, 8 pages (graduated sizes), cover illustrations is a photogravure portrait (Marie Antoinette from the painting by Le Brun in Versailles), illustration of interior of Court Theatre, program for current production (with portraits of cast), soft white leather (calf) backed (gilt stamped "Tiffany Co.") with string tie, light foxing to cover, some rubbing to several leaves, very good condition, rare (Ho3.3) ~ The initial performance featured Lurette Taylor in "Peg of My Heart" that ran for 603 performances. The souvenir program gives a substantial description of the design and construction of the Cort Theatre with the facade modeled after the Petit Trianon in Versailles. (Hence the portrait of Marie Antoinette on the title-page). The Cort Theatre is still functioning as a Broadway theatre in Manhattan 107 years later.
