Innovateur et découvreur du « bleu Deck ». Lettre autographe signée adressée à l « Hôtelier » M. Aubourg à Gonneville (Seine-Inférieure). 1 p. in-8. Sèvres, 1 889. En-tête de la Manufacture nationale de Porcelaine. 2 cachets de collection « J. Harivel ». Déchirure au pli horizontal du second feuillet. Enveloppe conservée. Théodore Deck le remercie pour lenvoi de deux perdreaux. Il tiendra sa promesse : « Dans quelques jours dici vous recevrez égalementmon petit envoi que vous pourrez faire figurer honorablement dans votre collection ». L'artiste et collectionneur Edmond Aubourg racheta une ancienne "hostellerie" qu'il renomma l'Auberge des Vieux Plats car il la décora avec de vielles faïences. Il était de tradition que les artistes puissent laisser en paiement pour leur séjour une oeuvre d'art. C'est ainsi que l'auberge fut entièrement décorée. Claude Monet y laissa deux peintures, dont une porte d'armoire en 1 885 qui est aujourd'hui l'Art Gallery of Ontario. En 1935, eut lieu une première vente successorale. On note la dispersion d'oeuvres de Lepoittevin, Maurice Vieillard, Georges Binet, Jules Giraudet, Maurice Courant, Paul- Albert Laurens, Raymond Lecourt, Eugène Lambert, Albert Besnard. La diffusion de cartes postales dans les années 1 91 0-1 920 accentua la renommée de l'auberge.
