Light soiling and yellowing to marbled page ends. Heavy yellowing and foxing to the edges of the inside front and back covers. Text is yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Presentation inscription to the previous owner on the ffep. Includes a full etymological vocabulary at the end of the book. A massive book, internally clean and solid with rubbing to extremities and a couple of short scrapes to the leather at the edge. Preface dated August 1, 1855. Invaluable as a reference to the geography (political and physical), commerce, education, religion, flora and fauna, and attitudes of the times. Very good.
