New light is shed on the association between highly active antiretroviral therapy and the induction of macular edema in HIV-positive patients. Novel drug treatment regimens with steroids and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors as well as new ways of applying laser and surgical therapies are also discussed in detail, and practical treatment guidelines are given. Complete with two volumes bound in one. Vol. I is complete with all 73 plates called fo…r in the 'Contents,' though "Great Canal, and Antique Gothic House" [or "Ghent"] is bound in at Vol. II, p. 58, and "The City of Catania and Mount Etna" is bound in near Vol. II, p. 152. Vol. II is lacking pp. 25-32, and pp. 49-56, and also lacks the eight plates that would have been in those two signatures. This is quite possibly a binder's error, as there does not appear to be any explicit damage to the textblock at those locations; the binder also misplaces a number of plates, though most of these errors are simply a few pages off. Vol. I with all 73 plates. Vol. II with 73 of the 81 plates. Altogether with 146 of the 154 plates, which includes the frontispieces and additional title pages, engraved. Some foxing to the plates; previous owners' names on the front pastedown and recto of the initial frontispiece lacking front endpaper. Surface wear to the joints, spine, and corners of the boards. Some soiling to the cloth covered boards. Half brown leather with designs in blind, decorative gilt rules, and gilt lettering, and gray cloth covered boards. Very Good. Very Good binding.

Erschien zur gleichnaimigen Ausstellung im Fotomuseum Winterhtur und als Teil der Ausstellung 'Gesucht - Avis de recherche' im Museum für Kommunikation in Bern. - "Carl Durheims Porträtfotografien von Heimatlosen und Nicht-Sesshaften - alle im Auftrag des damaligen schwei…zerischen Generalanwalts 1852/53 aufgenommen, anschliessend lithographiert und in Büchern gebunden an die Polizeistellen weitergegeben - stellen in der Schweiz, wenn nicht gar weltweit, die ersten erkennungsdienstlichen Polizeifotografien dar. Vom November 1852 bis Ende 1853 stellte der Berner Lithograph und Pionierfotograf Carl Durheim (1810-1890) fotografische Porträts von in der Schweiz lebenden, aber nicht sesshaften und deshalb "heimatlosen" Menschen her. Diese standardisierten erkennungsdienstlichen Aufnahmen sollten die Zwangseinbürgerung, Zwangsassimilierung oder Zwangsausschaffung der betroffenen Bevölkerungsgruppen, zum Beispiel der Fahrenden, unterstützen helfen - Massnahmen, die 1850 vom jungen schweizerischen Bundesstaat in die Wege geleitet worden waren. Dieser einmalige Bestand an Salzpapierfotografien, der ethnologisch, staatspolitisch und fotografisch höchst interessant ist, lagert im Bundesarchiv der Eidgenossenschaft.
