Decorative Cloth. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. Not Known. All edges gilt; engraved plates, nicely decorated & gilt brown cloth binding. One prelim has been cut out, either half-title or frontis. o/w good except spine frayed & split at edges and dent on front edge of each board.

Original maroon binding, brown leather, 7.00 x 4.5 inches approx. , central decoration to front and rear covers being an urn, gilt line decoration detail to front and rear, banded spine, gilt title and decoration a little faded, all edge gilt, corners a little bowed, cream endpapers, inscription of previous owner hand written in pencil to front endpaper and reverse side of the frontispiece, small stamped address to front pastedown, dark blue page marker, some browning in places, tissue protected frontispiece of James Thomson, tissue browned foxing to edges, xvii, 425 pages, some engravings. All edge gilt. Well used, nice to hold with a pleasant feel to it. Signs of its age but generally very good with some character.

Ornately tooled leather covered boards to front and rear, spine cross-banded but a little darkened, ink name to flyleaf dated 1858. Rubbing to board surface-edges, 4-5mm losses to spine-ends, heavy wear to corners. Page-edges of embossed gilt. Pages have a wave but clean. A few tissue covered B&W plates in nice condition - no list of these in contents. Good quality despite condition. Size: 6 1/2" Tall By 4 1/4" Wide.
