Auf jedem Abschnitt seines Lebens war Andresson durch Neid und Eifersucht gebremst worden und konnte so den Erfolg nie erreichen, den er verdient gehabt hätte. Doch seine Klugheit und Stärke, seine Gewitztheit und sein Geist ließen ihn die Beschwernisse bezwingen. So erschafft Eldjárn in seinem historischen Roman eine lebenspralle Figur am Übergang vom mittelalterlichen Aberglauben zur befreienden Aufklärung. Ein Roman über prahlende Dänen und nörgelnde Isländer, audgeklärte Lebenslust und machtkranke Pessimisten am Rande des Nordatlantiks. Im Blauturm war bereits für mehrere Literaturpreise nominiert. Übersetzt wurde der Roman ins Englische, Französische, Dänische und Finnische.
