Neuware -El primer marco teórico completo sobre la integración económica se formuló cuando ya había comenzado el proceso real de integración europea. Esta notable observación fue el principal impulso para investigar este proceso aparentemente reac…cionario en la ciencia económica. Tras una reconstrucción histórica de la elaboración de las teorías sobre la integración económica, esta tesis argumentará que, en el caso de la integración europea, las motivaciones políticas tienen más peso que los argumentos económicos. Dado que las teorías económicas sobre la integración descuidan estas motivaciones políticas, son incapaces de explicar la integración. Por lo tanto, esta tesis rehace la teoría de la integración económica para incorporar estas motivaciones políticas. Un enfoque constructivista se revelará como el más fructífero para tender un puente entre las teorías políticas y económicas en el contexto de la integración económica. En el último capítulo se presenta una metodología básica de cómo llevar a cabo dicho enfoque. Esta tesis puede ser de interés para cualquier persona interesada en el complejo proceso de integración económica europea.
