Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Half calf with gilt crest and titling to upper board. Gilt on red label to spine. Red label has a diagonal scratch and a small tear. The front hinge is cracked and the upper board attached only by the leather binding but the binding is o/w tight. Ex-lib with usual stamps and marks. Some dark discol. to spine. At four of the corners the leather has been rubbed away altogether. Although the gilt titling is still vibrant the leather is worn and rubbed esp to the extremities. Plain ochre endpapers. 910pp with many pages struck through with blue pencil. Revised translation commissioned by Sir Alfred Milner. Arguably a somewhat presumptuous publication seeing as the Anglo-Boer War was far from over in April 1901. Very heavy.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Half calf with gilt crest and titling to upper board. Gilt on red label to spine. Red label has a diagonal scratch and a small tear. There is a white label with the number '16' affixed to the spine. Rubbing to spine has produced a mottled effect possibly consistent with insect damage. Although the gilt titling is still vibrant the leather is very worn and rubbed esp to the extremities. At three of the corners and at the spine base the calf has rubbed away altogether. The top 8cm of the spine edge at front is splitting and there is a crack at the Preface. Plain ochre endpapers. The 910pp contents are unmarked and undiscoloured and the binding is very secure. There are no ownership markings or rubber stamps. Revised translation commissioned by Sir Alfred Milner. Arguably a somewhat presumptuous publication seeing as the Anglo-Boer War was far from over in April 1901. A rare volume.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 910 pages (complete). A resolute copy. Half leather. The boards have Royal Arms and titling in gilt (placid). The spine seams have been repaired with leather strips. The book is yet magisterial in appearance and purpose. The leathered corners and spine are worn, rubbed, scuffed. The boards have some light storage wear, shelving wear and marks. They are tight and steady. The end papers are of newer vintage than the contents. The title page has user creases, marks. The pages are most pleasing. They are comfortable, very clean and clear, certain, dutiful, diligent, sober, assured, fresh-faced. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
