Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. The New Dealers is a historical account of the group of advisors, intellectuals, and policymakers who surrounded Franklin D. Roosevelt during the 1930s and helped design the sweeping reforms known as the New Deal. The book focuses less on Roosevelt himself and more on the "brain trust"—a diverse mix of academics, lawyers, economists, and reformers who brought new ideas to government during a time of crisis. It explores how these individuals shaped policies aimed at economic recovery, financial reform, labor rights, and social welfare. Key themes include: The experimentation and urgency of policymaking during the Great Depression; Conflicts between competing economic philosophies; The expansion of federal power and responsibility; The personal dynamics and rivalries within Roosevelt's inner circle. Rather than presenting a single unified vision, the book shows the New Deal as a patchwork of evolving ideas, driven by trial, error, and political necessity. It highlights how this group fundamentally reshaped the relationship between the American government and its citizens. THIS copy has near-fine pages, and only has a previous owner's book label stating "Ruth E. Conant." An important book on the political history of the 1930's.
