Tim Van Laere Gallery presents Frames, Muller Van Severen's first solo exhibition at the gallery. Over the past 15 years, Muller Van Severen has developed a synergistic body of work that continually explores the boundaries between sculpture and functional object. This exhibition is the first time they present a series of works that are all unique. The exhibition Frames can be seen as a total installation, an all-encompassing universe of form, color, light, reflection and transparency. More than 30 works are brought together in the monumental space of Tim Van Laere Gallery, in which the artist duo searches for the most essential sculptural impact through minimal intervention. For Frames, Muller Van Severen always starts from a single plate, from which openings and depths arise through cutting and folding that not only provide space for functions, but also bridge the gap between reality and imagination. From the flat surface of a plate, a sculpture emerges that moves between abstraction and figuration. With Frames, Muller Van Severen creates a fictional world of images, in which alternative intrinsic meanings and possibilities are expressed, balancing between realism and surrealism. 0 g. …

Cologne Walther und Franz König 2021 Bound, cloth, 460pp., 18.5x25.5cm., richly illustr. in col., in very good condition. . ISBN 9783960989721. Muller Van Severen: Dialogue presents a decade of work by the Belgian design duo Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, who have collaborated since 2011. Their furniture, lighting and objects occupy a distinctive territory between functional design, sculpture and spatial installation. Simple industrial materials, elementary forms and a vivid colour palette are combined to create objects that are simultaneously practical, sculptural and visually striking. Edited by curator Jan Boelen, the book explores the origins, references and development of their practice through conversations, interviews and extensive visual documentation. The book offers a substantial overview of the first decade of Muller Van Severen's practice, tracing the development of their furniture collection and the ideas behind it. Rather than presenting the objects as isolated design products, the publication examines the relationship between furniture, sculpture, colour, material and space. Conversations involving Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, together with contributions from Beatrice Galilee, Arno Brandlhuber and Sam Chermayeff, provide different perspectives on their working methods and references. The abundant photography by Fred Muller and Frederik Vercruysse documents furniture, lighting and objects in detail while also showing how individual pieces interact with architectural interiors and larger spatial compositions. Particularly interesting is the way the publication places the duo's work between art and design. Their use of straightforward industrial materials and strong colour combinations results in elementary forms that can function as chairs, tables, lamps or other domestic objects while retaining a sculptural character. The book also covers the wider context of their international development, including collaborations with major brands and projects that expanded their practice beyond individual furniture pieces. For anyone interested in contemporary Belgian design, collectible furniture, colour in interiors or the intersection of product design and sculpture, this volume provides an extensive visual and critical record of the duo's formative decade.(AI-generated content description).…
