La verità è che i nostri sistemi - riferendosi all'uso di internet - sono progettati per risposte isolate, non risposte che riflettono risposte storiche, spaziali, culturali, mediali. I nostri sistemi trovano oggetti, non associazioni. Il che ci riporta alla 'wowology': la ricerca non è semplicemente una statistica isolata. La ricerca è di contesto: non semplicemente un oggetto ma tutte le sue associazioni". Del resto non era sua intenzione realizzare un dizionario delle meraviglie al pari di un Van Vert, né celebrare unicamente la taumatopoietica o taumastica che, ci spiega Manlio Brusatin, "è l'arte di produrre meraviglie e miracoli, ma soprattutto tecniche di tecniche, quelle che un tempo si chiamavano 'arti'". L'intento di Kim Veltman risiede nella specifica volontà di cavalcare, comparandoli, i mezzi di comunicazione di massa, sostituendo alla banalissima elencazione, domande utili alla connessione delle culture, solo in tal modo si potrà produrre quel cortocircuito temporale capace a sua volta di generare nuove relazioni tra le cose. In queste "pillole di utopia", ". il 'wow' non riguarda tanto un oggetto fisico quanto le sue connessioni con il metafisico. Dovremmo chiamarla wowology, wonderology, mirabialiaology? Ne abbiamo bisogno per capire il nostro presente, il nostro futuro, le nostre utopie, i nostri sogni, la nostra magia interiore, la nostra umanità, l'ineffabile" (Marcello Sèstito). Libro.
