Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Two Worlds, One Child's HeartThis is a true and exciting story about two children, two countries and one friendship.Nominated for DBW18 Award"Zhao Yang was born in a great and mysterious country - China. He lived there with his family, in all kinds of weather.Shahar was born in a small and unique country - Israel. He traveled to China with his parents to study, tour, and enjoy. One day, they encountered each other on a street in China. Both were licking sweet, pink ice cream. They looked at each other silently and curiously, for not only did they not know each other, but they could see that they really did not look alike - they were so very different. They liked playing the same games, and they cried the same tears when saying goodbye, but they lived in worlds so far apart from each other, worlds in which children live who are so dissimilar and yet so very similar. ".An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn black & white or colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children's (elementary age) cultural-educational story book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children's cultural-educational movie, a classroom presentation, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars." See the whole review from Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn) below."Kaminsky certainly knows how to tell a story and Nadya Adina Rose does wonder with her drawings. a fascinating world of scents, sounds, and taste emerges from the pages.", Osnat Blair - "Parents and Children"."The book opens a small, and colorful aperture to The Dragon Country and grants its readers a few "bites" of local cultures. The readers find themselves attached to the plot, the sceneries, the food, and the scents of that far away country. By the end of the book, the readers can say hello in Chinese and even count to ten". Shula Frumer- "Yediot Tikshoret""My impression was that it concerns an important book, intended to nurture ideological issues, such as co-existence and tolerance which should be promoted among our students.", Ms. Odaya Mel, Regional instructor for reading skills and literature on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Israel. Generally about the book: "The more we direct the children to accept the different whoever it is, thus we shall gain a more supportive and accepting society. The children understand that it is precisely the difference that is bringing them closer and in fact, When everything is different it is easier to find the similar". Magazine "Being Parents"."Two Worlds, One Child's Heart" gained most favorable criticism as it presents the young reader with experiences from China and insights which are important for his/her continuous way in the world. The most conspicuous of them is the importance of equality between human beings while discussing the different issues which actually leads to finding the similarities between them. The insight that despite the difference we are all similar, is expressed in the book throughout the journey in China. It describes, in stages, the way in which the differences can also be similar. As a teacher and a journalist and a mother of two children, I experience daily our needs and those of our children to bridge, despite the differences, between children and people. And when the similarity is revealed, that is when the magic takes place.I do believe that once we direct our children to accept the different wherever it is, thus we shall gain a more supporting and Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
