Buch
Soft cover. Zustand: New. Originally published in 1928, this is a wonderfully comprehensive look at 'rugger'. It includes personal reminiscences of some of the top players from the 1900s and goes on to offer a complete training and tactics guide. Illustrated throughout with photographs and diagrams, the book still has much practical advice to offer the modern rugby enthusiast, as well as the historical interest. Many of these earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

Second Impression. green cloth, pp., xi, 490, (1), illustrated, frontis., 3 full page plates, text illustrations, index, covers worn very light spine fade, foot of front cover faded, ink inscription on front endpaper, end papers toned, a fair copy, Contains 98 pp of records at end Size: 8 Vo.,
Hardcover. Zustand: VG. No Jacket. Photos, Diagrams, Cameos (illustrator). Second Impression. In the forward to this book co-author Wakefield is described as being "one of the greatest forwards England has ever produced" and Marshall as "a very ernest and sound judge of the true principles of the game." Both, therefore, were eminently qualified to study the game, both as players and observers. The story is semi-autobiographical and technical, divided in three parrts: Rugger Reminiscences,The Theory and Practice of Rugby Football and Records. The first charts largely the on-field expoeriences of Wakefield, the second the technicalities of the game and the third "vital facts in the history of rugby football", including a list of international players from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Two other interesting segments cover the rules oif the game at the time of publication and the bye-laws of the international board, providing comparisons with those of today. First published 1927, this second impression dated 1928, 491 pages including index, four b/w plates (frontis tissue protected), cameo caricatures of contemporary notable players, numerous drawings and diagrams illustratting technical aspects. Green hard covers with gilt spine titles have become mottled, with fading to spine area with ligh wear at extremities, both boards slightly loose with cracking at gutters but still well attached, browning to both FEPs, otherwise internally excellent.
