Einar Wallquist, ofta kallad Lappmarksdoktorn, var en läkare som blev känd som författare, museiman och konstnär. Han tillträdde tjänsten som provinsialläkare i lappmarkskommunen Arjeplog 26 år gammal, blev förtjust i landskapet och människorna och blev kvar. Wallquist var mycket intresserad av den samiska kulturen och nybyggarkulturen, och han började samla in äldre föremål från den trakt där han verkade. Tre år efter Wallquists pensionering som läkare 1962 invigdes hans skapelse Silvermuseet i Arjeplog. Einar Wallquist var verksam som museiman fram till sin död knappt nittio år gammal i december 1985. Sedan 1995 har även Wallquists hem, Doktorsgården, varit öppet varje sommar för guidade visningar.
