[1], pages 1-15 & [1-3]. Illustrated with a 4 inch high by 2-3/4 inch wide tipped-in bookplate for "MVP" by Plank, engraved on tissue and 11 woodcut vignettes by George Wolfe Plank. Internally bright & fine. Very good. Number 298 of a limited edition of 300 numbered copies.The contents include: "The White Heron" by Fiona Macleod, pseudonym of William Sharp, "Impression", a poem by Herbert Seiser Weber, "Yeats and Synge - A Celtic Contrast" by Louis Untermeyer, a poem by B. Russell Herts "My Spring Garden" and "Carrie Munro A Sentimental Song" by Julia A. Moore, The Sweet Singer of Michigan, with sentimental wood-cuts by G W P.George Wolfe Plank (1883-1965) was an American illustrator and designer of magazine covers. A self-taught artist, he worked in factories and department stores before moving to Philadelphia where he edited and printed The Butterfly Quarterly with Margaret H. Scott, Alice Smith, and Amy Smith from 1907-09. In 1911 he was hired by Vogue and continued to supply illustrations and cover designs for the magazine until 1936.
