Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some mild marking and tanning. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge wear with some small tears, chipping and creasing. Some rubbing and marking to surfaces.

Zustand: Poor. The jacket is scuffed and worn to its edges. The book is well bound and fine ot read throughout, a decent enough copy but fairly tatty.

And how glad I was I did, because I soon found I was alone in the woods with a wit, an illiterate savant who spoke hardly a word that wasn't worth recording. I didn't like to take notes in his presence. I was afraid he'd either dry up or turn self-conscious and silly. So I had to keep retiring to the bush . . and there hastily scribble down as much of what he said as I could remember. . . These notes were turned into the MS for a book and then, when I'd finished, I learned that Joe Lavally was dead.
