Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the historical failures of prohibition in the United States, arguing for a return to the regulation of alcohol sales and consumption. The author traces the rise and fall of prohibition movements over the last century and a half, revealing the negative consequences they have had on society, including increased crime, corruption, and a thriving black market for alcohol. Drawing on extensive research and historical data, the book challenges the notion that prohibition can effectively address the issue of alcohol abuse and instead advocates for a harm reduction approach that emphasizes education, public health measures, and responsible regulation. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the history and impact of prohibition, this book offers valuable insights into the complexities of alcohol policy and the importance of evidence-based decision-making in addressing societal challenges. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Benjamin Kilburn (1827-1909). and his brother Edward (b. 1830) initially operated their business together until Edward retired in the 1870's, and by 1872 they had a large photographic stereoview card factory one block from the Littleton trains station. Young salesmen carried the stereoviews on the trains, and by the early 20th-Century the company was the most extensive producer of stereoview photographs, purchasing images from such photographers as William H. Rau, the Kiser Bros., and others. Wasson (fl. 1899-1939) originally founded the International Stereograph Co. in 1899 in Decator, IL, and produced a wide range of images, often in the West, maintaining studios in Idaho, Arizona, and Oregon as well.…
