Folio, 33 by 24 cm. xiv, [2], 306, [4], 239, [13] pp. Also two engraved half-titles, with illustration of tiger, and with 40 hand-colored plates, 20 in each volume. Contemporary dark green straight-grained full morocco binding, with ornate gilt border decoration -- a repeat of vines and leaves, contained within ruled lines, and also a blindstamped band within this one. Five raised bands of spine with ruled lines denoting the raised areas and four gilt impressed vignettes of deer. Professionally rebacked, both volumes, with original spines retained and attached in a manner that the work is as inconspicuous as possible. The gilt decoration -- floral borders, ruled edges, turn-ins, spine illustrations, lettering, has spots that are dulled, but generally the gold remains bright. The leaves within, both text and plates, are also generally clean, almost remarkably so, notwithstanding the most occasional of spots of soiling. Full Straight-Grained Morocco. Cloth Slipcase.…
