Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating history of the intertwined development of church and state in Norway, from the pre-Christian era through the 16th century. It explores the introduction of Christianity to the land of the Vikings, highlighting the crucial role played by English missionaries and the influence of the Anglo-Saxon Church. The author meticulously traces the often-tumultuous relationship between religious and secular authority, revealing the power struggles and political maneuvering that shaped the nation's fate. We witness the rise and fall of influential figures, from the legendary King Harald Fairhair to the sainted King Olaf, and the dramatic clash between tradition and reform. Through meticulous research and engaging storytelling, this book sheds light on a pivotal period in Norwegian history, offering profound insights into the complex dynamics between faith and power that continue to resonate today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
