Deroceras ercinae spec. nov. is described from the Cantabrian Mountains, Spain. The characters used to define the subgenera of Deroceras are discussed. It is demonstrated that the present subdivision of this genus into subgenera is not based on synapomorphic characters. 9 pp., 10 figs., 4.

Ennea nigeriensis sp. n. is described from southeastern Nigeria on the basis of external and internal shell morphology. Following Pilsbry?s formal criteria of a single palatal fold and corresponding external furrow, the new species may be assigned to Parennea. Ennea nigeriensis sp. n. exhibits substantial similarity with E. serrata, a species from Cameroon, in the cylindrical shell shape, crenulate suture, and internal shell morphology, indicating that the two species are closely related. CT scanning confirmed the presence of only a single palatal fold in E. nigeriensis sp. n. and two in E. serrata. In spite of this, the Nigerian species is provisionally assigned to Ennea rather than Parennea, suggesting that the characters used to define Ennea and Parennea are insufficient to delimit natural groups of species. The holotype of E. serrata is examined for the first time since its description in 1896 and a redescription of the species is provided based on the two shells hitherto known. Study of the original specimens recorded as Ptychotrema (Parennea) sulciferum by Degner from Liberia reveals these to belong to Ennea cf. thompsonae. The Nigerian shell recorded by van Bruggen as Ptychotrema (Parennea) aequatoriale proved to be a specimen of Ennea cf. perforata. As a result, no species attributable to Parennea now appear to be known in West Africa; in contrast, numerous species are known from central and eastern Africa. New taxon: Ennea nigeriensis n. sp. pp. 21-34, 5 figs, gr. 8.…

Descriptions of six new species of West African Streptaxidae are provided: Ptychotrema (Ennea) ankasana, Gulella atewana and G. jongkindi, all from Ghana. Ptychotrema (Haplonepion) vroomi and Gulella bancoensis from Cote d Ivoire, and Ptychotrema (Ennea) okei from Nigeria. 10 pp., 13 figs, gr. 8.

2 pp., 1 fig., gr. 8.

A new, minute species of Streptaxidae from southwest Cameroon, Gulella kuiperi spec. nov., is described. The systematic position of this apparently rare species is discussed. Since information of the soft parts is lacking, as is the case for the vast majority of the numerous species of Gulella s.l. described to date, its generic position remains unclear. On the basis of some conchological characters, the species is provisionally assigned to the subgenus Silvigulella. 4 pp., 3 figs, gr. 8. …

Two new stylommatophoran land snails are described from Spain, viz., Oestophora (O.) ortizi nov. spec. from the province of Malaga, and Vitrea inae nov. spec. from the province of Teruel. Topotypic shells of Vitrea pygmaea (O. Boettger) and shells from the Algerian province of Mostaganem resembling this species are described and figured for comparison. Vitrea cf. pygmaea is an addition to the Algerian faunal list. New taxa: Oestophora (Oestophora) ortizi n. sp., Vitrea inae n. sp. 5 pp., 3 figs, gr. 8.…

In August-September 2003 a thriving population of the originally southern European land snail Xerotricha apicina (Lamarck, 1822) was discovered for the first time in the Netherlands in a coastal dune area near IJmuiden (prov. Noord-Holland). This probably represents the as yet northernmost record in Europe. In 2003 the population, with animals ranging from tiny juveniles to adults, occupied an area of approx. 70 x 70 m with densities up to 500 (sub)adult animals m-2. In April 2005 the species seemed to have expanded its range by some 50 m. All fresh shells collected are distinctly pilose, whereas most descriptions in the literature emphasize that adult shells are usually hairless, in contrast to juveniles. The species habitat at IJmuiden is similar to that described in the literature. Since the species possesses a bi-annual life cycle, it must have arrived in 2002 at the very latest, probably some years earlier. The population thus survived the relatively cold winter of 2002-2003 with minimum temperatures of -13 [degree]C close to the site. This, and the availability of suitable habitat nearby, suggests that the species may be able to establish itself firmly in the Netherlands. 6 pp., 9 figs, gr. 8.…

Deroceras johannae n. sp. and D. korthionensis n. sp. are described from the Isle of Andros, Greece. Distributional data of Limax aff. conemenosi Boettger, Tandonia sowerbyi Ferussac, as well as of an unidentified milacid are provided. Attention is drawn to a peculiarity in the genital anatomy of L. aff. conemenosi, in comparison with specimens attributed to this species from outside Greece. The material has been deposited in ZMA. 9 pp., 16 figs, 4. …

Two new species of Monachoides Gude and Woodward, M. kosovoensis and M. taraensis, are described from Kosovo and Crna Gora, Yugoslavia, on the basis of conchological and anatomical characters. The assignment of both species to the genus Monachoides is somewhat doubtful in view of the presence of a small second dart-sac in M. kosovoensis, and the atypical shell of M. taraensis. A lectotype shell of Monacha fallax Wagner, 1915, is designated and figured. An annotated checklist of all nominal hygromiid western Balkan species (sensu Schileyko, 1991, exclusive of the Helicellinae , and the genus Monacha Fitzinger s.l.) is provided. New taxa: Monachoides taraensis n. sp., Monachoides kosovoensis n. sp. 20 pp., 39 figs, gr. 8.…

Two new species of the genus Zospeum Bourguignat, 1856 are described from caves in the Sierra de Aitzgorri (Gipuzkoa) and the Sierra Salvada (Burgos) in Northern Spain. The taxa Z. vasconicum sp. n. and Z. zaldivarae sp. n. have recently, without a formal name, been included in a molecular study of worldwide members of the Carychiidae. In the present paper, the shell morphology and variation of these species is described and illustrated. 16 pp., 8 figs, gr. 8.…

A new species of the endemic Azorean zonitid subgenus Drouetia, Oxychilus (D.) batalhana nov. spec., is described from the Island of Sao Miguel. Its very long flagellum separates it from all known Drouetia species. 5 pp., 8 figs, gr. 8.
