Zustand: New. 1194 2012 J-WPA1274 (1941), 2012 This work was originally prepared by the Work Projects Administration (formerly the Works Progress Administration), and entitled "Calendar of Wills in West Virginia: No. 49, Upshur County (Buckhannon)." With this printing, the publication is reissued with the title "Upshur County, West Virginia: Abstracts of Wills, 1851-1884," which better reflects the content of the book. Upshur County's will records are complete from 1851, the date of establishment of the county. In compiling this work, the abstractors limited the publication to wills recorded prior to 1885. Thus only Will Book A has been used. The wills contained herein are entered chronologically by date of probate and are arranged as follows: name of testator, occupation of testator if shown, place will made, date will made, date of probate, names of devisees, name of executor, abstract of will, names of witnesses to will, book and page number of recording, and assigned calendar number. There are approximately 1,400 individuals listed in the index. Paperback, (1941), 2012, Index, 104 pp.

This work was originally prepared by the Work Projects Administration (formerly the Works Progress Administration), and entitled "WPA Research and Records Bibliography No. 4," dated September 12, 1940, and "Research and Records Bibliography No. 4, revised," issued September 1, 1941. With this printing, the publication was reissued with the title "Bibliography of Research Projects Reports: Check List of Historical Records Survey Publications, revised April 1943," which better reflects the content of the book. This is the final listing of "Historical Records Survey" publications issued between 1936 and 1943, which were prepared under various names and several related federal programs. Included in these publications are transcriptions of state, county, town and municipal records, taken from the various archives that provide detailed information accumulated by each governing body and that depict important and relevant historical data to the genealogist and historian. Many of the records transcribed included minutes of meetings, matters taken before the court, and the work product of various commissions and boards. Also of vital interest to researchers are listings of what reports or publications are available for the various states, counties, and municipalities, and, more importantly, where those publications are located.
