Wouter Kusters laat in Pure waanzin zien dat waanzin geen concept is dat uitsluitend beheerd en uitgesproken wordt door psychiaters, maar een grensgebied waarin kunstenaars, filosofen, psychoten, psychiaters en zelfs normale mensen zich bewegen. Wouter Kusters is gepromoveerd taalkundige, postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij het Meertens Instituut en publicist. Dit prachtige en verhelderende boek is een bewerking van een essay waarvoor hij in 2004 de Van Helsdingenprijs heeft ontvangen van de Stichting Psychiatrie en Filosofie.
