Gravure originale de Peter Wyon d'après les dessins Johann Martin Metz extrait de l'ouvrage Die Schlösser des Kurfürsten Clemens August, vers 1750/1755.  Format de la plaque : 38 x 55,5 cm environ. Épreuve contrecollée sur un carton plus fort avec environ 2 cm de marge. Quelques rousseurs. Le château de Poppelsdorf près de Bonne est l'ancien château de plaisance des archevêques et des princes électeurs de Cologne.La série de gravures de Metz est dédiée à l'électeur Clément Auguste de Bavière (1700-1761) (en allemand : Clemens August Maria von Bayern), cinquième de la longue lignée des archevêques de Cologne de la maison de Wittelsbach.Très belle gravure originale dans le style Rococo du château de Poppelsdorf vue du côté du jardin avec la façade principale du château et son double escalier dans un très grand soucis du détail. Au premier plan, le grand jardin et sa fontaine ronde autour de laquelle s'animent des promeneurs et quelques animaux (chien et cygnes). Le domaine est entouré de deux rangées d'arbres et de hautes haies semblant donner accès à des labyrinthes. Le tout dans un grand encadrement végétal de guirlandes entrelacées rocailles. En haut au centre, cartouche légendé en français. En bas, sur le cartouche allemand, le dessinateur s'est représenté de dos tenant son carton.
