Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. This book is brand new and sealed. This monographic essay is the first to focus on the entire career of Nil Yalter, a Franco-Turkish artist born in 1938. The detailed analysis of the forty or so multimedia projects (1958-2018), the result of twenty years of companionship between the artist and the author, situates them in their cultural, political and social contexts. Fabienne Dumont focuses on the artist's very early beginnings in Turkey, as an abstract painter, then on her arrival in Paris with a shift towards constructivist painting, before the break in 1972 and the shift towards socio-critical projects. The influence of ethnography and political and social events becomes central, and the works are anchored in particular places, linked to the history of immigration in the 1970s and 1980s in France, to the working-class history of factories, mixing the beliefs of the protagonists with the concrete struggles to improve their living conditions. Combining video, drawing, text, collage of materials, film photography and Polaroid, Nil Yalter invests in a new field with a feminist and Marxist perspective. Copyright © MAC VAL.…

Soft cover. Zustand: New. Paperback. Pbo. Large roy. 8vo. (24 x 19 cm). In English and Turkish. 160 p., 105 color and b/w ills. Nil Yalter: Off the record.= Kayit disi. Edited and curated by Süreyyya Evren, Ilkay Balic. "With an acute awareness of the way space, body and knowledge are manipulated by authorities to maintain control over the masses, Yalter looks to the margins. She documents the struggles and dwellings of the unseen members of society: the labourers, women and immigrants. In her research, Yalter brings together diverse disciplines such as folk tradition, literature, ethnology, natural sciences and philosophy. She creates a unique visual language that fuses fact and fiction, as well as documentary, poetry and performance. Just as a shaman inhabits other realms and bodies during trance, Yalter leaves the confines of identity to deal with personal and collective trauma.…
