The monograph documents the transformation of the American landscape from local, vernacular roots into a homogeneous, corporate terrain of franchised spaces, discarded sites, and suburban sprawl. Red paper-covered boards with blind-stamped black spine lettering secure the heavy, high-gloss paper stock printed in Italy by Mondadori Printing, Verona. The accompanying photographic dust jacket features a landscape view of Highway 196 in Rowley Junction, Utah, on the front panel and a Minneapolis strip mall parking lot on the rear. William L.
