Berkman was a leading writer and participant in the 20th century Anarchist movement. Young and idealistic, he practiced 'propaganda by the deed", attempting to assassinate Henry Clay Frick during the Homestead Steel Strike of 1892. While in prison, he wrote the classic tale of prison life, Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist. Deported from the USA back to his native Russia in 1919, he witnessed first-hand the failure of the Bolshevik revolution and dedicated himself to writing this classic primer on Anarchism. This edition combines the frequently reprinted ABC of Anarchism and the less easy to find What is Communism back into a single book format.
