Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 108pp. Red cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A tiny trace of discolouration to the cloth at the backstrip ends where the dust wrapper is defective. A light crease to the tips of three or four leaves, and a small area of soiling to the margin of one text leaf. Very good indeed in the John Banting-designed dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but splitting and internally repaired at several natural folds, and with some creasing, dust soiling, and a little loss to the spine panel ends and corner tips. Originally written in 1942 the book was not printed until 1945 "partly due to the manuscript's habit of absenting itself from my possession for long intervals, and partly to prejudice in the publishing trade against books under 70,000 words in length" - from the Author's Note.
