The Preface refers to it as a ÒPictorial EditionÓ that is Òin every respect equal to its predecessors, and in some points superior.Ó Though pagination differs between the 1872 edition (108 pp.) and the 1873 and 1874 editions (76 pp.), what textual differences there are between those editions and the fourth edition is something we cannot determine without being able to compare them. All editions are scarce, with OCLC recording a combined total of seven copies of the 1872, 1873, and 1874 editions, the majority of them in the U.K Twelvemo. 108 pp. Chromolithographic frontispiece and every page with four chromolithographic illustrations, each accompanied by a Bible verse. Every illustrated leaf is followed by a blank leaf, ruled in red and meant to be filled in by hand PublisherÕs brown cloth decoratively stamped in black and gilt, gilt spine. All edges gilt. Binding extremities a bit worn, spine slightly toned. Front hinge cracked, but sound. Light foxing, contemporary ink inscriptions on the blank leaves, with most of the writing space empty. A very good, tight copy.

16mo., Fourth Edition, with coloured frontispiece, title in red and black, and numerous delightful illustrations illuminated in gilt and colours and incorporating thoughts and tenets from Scripture (one per day throughout the year), a few diary entries completed in a neat hand, neat contemporary inscription on front paste-down, wanting front free endpaper, cutting mounted on rear paste-down; original blue cloth, upper board elaborately blocked and lettered in gilt and blind, gilt back, bevelled boards, gilt edges, primrose endpapers, a very good, bright, clean copy. IN THIS CONDITION, A RARE SURVIVAL.

Red cloth boards in a metal frame with hook to close, black and gold detailing on cover, back and spine. Spine is bumped. Gilt page edges. Chromolithographic frontispiece and e with four chromolithographic illustrations to each page, accompanied by a Bible verse. Occasional markings inside and signature, dated 1874, to fep and annotations by previous owner.; 48mo - over 3 - 4" tall. Near Fine.

SECOND EDITION. Small 8vo. (4.3 x 2.9 inches). Colour frontis, colour printed text and decoration on title page and each text page with four colour and gold printed illustrations, one for each day. Blank leaves with ruled lines are bound in opposite each page, with a handfull filled in in ink with names and birth years on the relevant days. Neat three line inscription, gifting the book to a brother from his sister Annie, dated 1874, on the front free endpaper. Publishers highly decorative brown cloth binding with black decorations to the rear board. The front board and spine are decorated and lettered in black and gilt. Bevelled edges. Yellow coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Aside from the few names written into the diary dates, and a little gentle rubbing to the edges of the boards this is a fine copy of this beautifully produced book.

Stated second edition; bound in publisher's blue cloth embossed boards with gilt lettering and decorations. AEG. Illustrated throughout with a small color pint for each day of the year (and with a full page color frontis illustration.) Many pages have 19th century hand written names (signatures?) and dates (etc.) One page has the top 1/4 removed (excised signature?) binding is repaired but still weak, boards rubbed, etc. Otherwise a nice example of this rare title.
