The front flyleaf is inscribed 'To Mr A W Piper | With kind regards from | B & M Adamson'. Adam Adamson (1821-1898) 'arrived in South Australia in September 1839 on board the ship the "Recovery". Agricultural implements manufacturer, Adelaide' (State Library of South Australia). Provenance: Arthur W. Piper (1865-1936), a South Australian Supreme Court judge (and notable book-collector), with his personal library number (1700) on the front pastedown and verso of the front free endpaper.
