Hardback. Zustand: Very Good. small 8vo, pp [iii]-xi, 412; rebound at some point in oatmeal buckram with a red leather label title gilt; no title page is present but this appears to be a copy of the 1928 edition rebound relatively recently; very good copy. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were Italian-born anarchists who were arrested for and convicted of murder and armed robbery in 1920 and eventually executed in August 1927 despite worldwide opposition to their sentencing and serious doubts as to guilt expressed by a very wide range of supporter in the US and elsewhere in the world. Both steadfastly insisted they were innocent and claimed that their sentence was in retaliation for their anarchist beliefs, charging that after seven years in jail they had become an embarrassment to the judicial and political authorities who determined to remove them. Fifty years later Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis issued a proclamation exonerating the pair, saying that they had been unfairly tried and executed.
