With the presentation inscription from the author to the then US Ambassador to Japan John Armor Bingham (1815-1900) to the front free endpaper, and ownership inscription by Bingham on the title wrapper, together with the neat inscription of a later owner, David H. Stansbery (1926-2017), Professor Emeritus at the Ohio State University, Curator of the Ohio State Museum of Natural History, and a world-expert on freshwater molluscs (and a champion of their conservation). A good copy of this scarce paper (with a notable association) by scholar and first Governor of Hyogo Prefecture Takahira Kanda, translated by his adopted son Naibu Kanda.
