Pp. [ii]+22(last blank); demy 8vo; grey paper wrappers, lettered and decorated in black, stapled, a trifle creased, edges and backstrip lightly faded and browned; printed with the authority of the Library committee, Corporation of London, London, 1970. *'The association of Thomas James Wise with Guildhall Library was a long one…lasting for nearly fifty years. At intervals during this period he presented books to the Library totalling in all some 131 works. Of these 32 were forgeries, counterfeits or piracies, the gift of which was not entirely disinterested, but he also gave more than 60 of his privately printed works and a number of 18th century items and two of the 17th century' [Introduction]. Following the handlist of the Wise books in the Guildhall library is an article by the library's Principal Cataloguer, Kathleen Garrett, The artist and the author (also reprinted from Guildhall Miscellany, but redated April 1969), being notes on a counterfeit edition of a Cruikshank pamphlet presented to the Library by T. J. Wise.
