Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. This a Near Fine copy of the true first U.S. edition, which has dull-finished boards (versus the glossy boards found on the first trade edition). The book, whose only flaw is a small bump on the top of the back hardcover, also features library-style reinforced binding, but it is NOT an ex-library copy. The $3.79 price is intact on the Very Good+ dust jacket's flap. The jacket is marred by a fold, from top to bottom on the back cover, which is difficult to see unless you look for it. This is a magical pairing of Singer, the great Yiddish storyteller and Nobel Prize winner, and du Bois, one of the greats of children's literature who won the Newberry for Twenty-One Balloons.
