Crucibles were one of the many items in the stock-in trade. These they imported from German. However in 1851 they were impressed by an American crucible manufactured according to a new process. After importing these from America they decided to make their own and bought the manufacturing rights and a small factory in Battersea. So from 1856 to 1956 the Morgan Crucible Company operated at Battersea and indeed had branches abroad. In 1956 it was quoted that 'new ideas are stirring in Morgan's research department' Hardback 68pp Many ilustrations. Extensive but light edge rubbing, small spine end chips and the odd tiny nick, the main problem was the front fore-edge which was adhering to the underlying cover, I have managed to detach this (primarily in order to add a protective sleeve) but have had to reinforce much of verso of jacket fold with tear repair tape. A fairly scarce and lavish company production with much information for historians, with full list of staff who lost their lives on pp.74-75. Compnay renamed in 2013 as Morgan Advanced Materials.
