Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. dust jacket not issued. Second Printing. A collection of forty sermons written by Dr. William Fleetwood from 1689 to 1722. Bound in full leather, cover is plain. Hubbed spine bears six raised bands, and a leather burgundy label stamped in gilt lettering. All edges sprinkled red. Attractive antiquarian bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. xii, 782pp., plus 2 pages of ads. Covers and spine are moderately rubbed. Two inch crack along front outer joint at the foot, and inner hinges are starting, yet boards are very firmly affixed and the binding is absolutely solid. Previous owner's name neatly penned inside the front cover in contemporary dipped ink. Pages are in stunning condition. Mild discoloration occasionally throughout, but overall, leaves are bright white and clean. No writing within text body. A wonderfully preserved volume of writings and sermons. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: "William Fleetwood, (1656-1723), was an English preacher, Bishop of St. Asaph and Bishop of Ely, remembered by economists and statisticians for constructing a price index in his Chronicon Preciosum of 1707. He received his education at Eton and at King's College, Cambridge. Fleetwood was regarded as the best preacher of his time. He was accurate in learning, and effective in delivery, and his character stood deservedly high in general estimation. In episcopal administration he far excelled most of his contemporaries. Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Volume one of Potter's Antiquities, containing "The Civil Governance of Athens" and "The Religion of Greece." This is a fascinating edition from 1751, including engravings. This volume is in fair condition. There is significant damage to the leather covering the front board and the spine, and there is staining from what would appear to have been a now missing decoration on the front and back cover. There is also damage to the spine, and cracking to the hinges. Other than age-related staining however, the interior of the book is in excellent shape and the binding is tight.…

Full-Leather. Zustand: Very Good. No dj. Eighth Edition. 3 volumes only, volumes 2, 3 & 4, of 4 volume set. Translated By Several Hands and Published By the Late Mr Motteux, adorned with new sculptures, the eighth edition, revis'd anew etc etc By Mr. Ozell, who, at the bottom of the pages has likewise added etc. Full leather binding, probably not original but looks to be at least 1800's, could be a very skillful re-back with original boards, as these look original. The later leather spines are supple with some rubbing but no powderiness or weakness. Bright gilt spine titling in simple compartments with raised bands. Vols 2 & 3 have matching armorial bookplate. Gilt chevron edging to boards all but rubbed away, wear to corners, board surfaces well preserved. Insides tight and servicable with excessive cropping to top edges, not quite touching the text. Volume 2 inscribed and dated 1755, 4 volumes cost 7 sh. this volume has only 2 engraved plates. Volume 3 has 9 engraved plates, Volume 4 has 12 engraved plates. Text blocks are tight and in good order with usual age effects and some wear to edges but no excessive problems or missing leaves.
