Using a sample of 133 large U.S firms over the period 2005 to 2009, we explore the correlation of price to book value with board of director¿s structure (composition and size). Our results show that smaller and younger boards with less independent directors lead to a higher firm performance. We further find that the presence of women on board is important rather than their number. The outcome of the study shows also that financial expertise of audit committee members has a significant and positive influence on the amount of tax fees. We use econometric model to test the dependence of bank performance measures and particular elements of executive remuneration ¿ total sum, bonus, stock award and option award. The relationship is generally considered as weak, but we also find linkage between TARP recipients¿ compensation and Market Capitalisation and on the other hand non-TARP bank appeared to define compensation according to earning per share. The Johansen cointegration procedure is used to test for long-run market efficiency and unbiasedness and the short-run efficieny and unbiasedness is analyzed using an error-correction model (ECM). The design of this model allows a possibility for futures markets to exhibit shor-trun pricing inefficiencies and biasedness. The data was collected from a sample of 70 bank clerks in Alice and King William¿s Town, using a self-designed biographical and occupational data questionnaire; a participative leadership questionnaire adopted from Sagie, Zaidman & Amichai-Humburger (2002); and Mowday, Steers, and Porter¿s (1979) organisational commitment questionnaire. Participative leadership was measured as a unitary concept while organisational commitment was measured in the following four ways: as an acceptance of the organisation¿s values and goals (values); as loyalty to the organisation (loyalty); as preparedness to expend extra effort for the organisation¿s benefit (effort); and as a combination of the three component scores (total oc). For the total sample, participative leadership was found to be significantly positively correlated with total oc, and with effort.
